DOST Secretary Mario Montejo supports Asia Digital Marketing Expo 2015

Jose Mario G. Montejo is the current secretary of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). He was appointed by President Benigno Simeon Aquino III on 1 July 2010. As inventor and engineer, he aims to solve the country’s recurring problems like flood and traffic congestion. He and his staff also plan to address the increasing number of dengue cases in the country through locally conceived and fabricated traps for attracting and eliminating dengue-carrying mosquitoes.

Montejo obtained a BS Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman (UP) in 1975. In 1989, Montejo received the Gold Medal Award for Creative Research from the Filipino Inventors Society.

He was among the 100 Outstanding Alumni Engineers of the Century awarded by the UP College of Engineering in 2011.

Secretary Montejo will welcome all delegates in the upcoming Asia Digital Marketing Expo 2015 happening on July 26, 2015 at SMX Aura, Taguig, Philippines and will be introduced by TAG Media and Public Relations CEO Engr. Grace Bondad Nicolas.

Dragon Fruit farm in the foot of Mount Balungao

Known as the goat capital of Pangasinan province, and recently crowned for having the longest zipline in Southeast Asia, Balungao’s tourism industry continues to blossom. And to further raise the Municipality's treasure, the 2.5-hectare dragon fruit farm in Mt. Balungao is seen to attract visitors. Dragon fruit or Pitaya prefers free draining soil with sandy to clay loam types or sandy soils like the land that can be found in Balungao. Dragon fruit farming is widely popular in Central and South America. But thru research, it has reached different countries in Asia including the Philippines. The Mt. Balungao Dragon Fruit farm is located in Napudot Road. The farm was developed in 2010 but the hefty harvest started just 2 years ago. According to Johnny Espe, owner of the farm, an expansion is planned due to the higher demand. Making desserts on TV

Being interviewed on TV happened to me numerous times, primarily about digital media and social media stuff. But this is my first time to do a live demo making desserts on TV. It feels a bit scary. Bringing my brand on live television and making it myself. I made a local version of an Asian dessert called Cendol. Its a green bean based dessert which resembles halo-halo in our country. Its mostly composed of sweetened fruits in season on a bowl of crushed ice with milk and a little sugar. The interviewer was a friend, broadcaster Alfie Tulagan of GMA TV 10, and his ever- talented cameraman. The ingredients were : 1. Cendol 2. Sweet Potato 3. Langka/ Jackfruit 4. Red beans 5.
